· THE STORY
Roberto Gallina, international motorcycle racer, can count his participation in more than 180 races between 1960 and 1975; his career successes include 60 race victories and twice being Italian Champion. He has been recognized as one of the great riders of the 60's and 70's, in such exalted company as Agostini, Saarinen, Pasolini and Villa.
With motorcycle racing in his blood, when the time came to hang up his leathers, he chose to take the role of race team owner. In 1975 he founded "GALLINA TEAM" to compete at the highest levels of international racing competition.
In the more than 18 years of operation, the team riders added many more wins and trophies to Roberto's successes including:
- 1981 500 cc. G.P. World Champion Rider Marco Lucchinelli
- 1982 500 cc. G.P. World Champion Rider Franco Uncini
- 17 G.P. wins overall
- 11 times Italian Championship winner
- The team achieved many other good results with a succession of top riders including; Virginio Ferrari, Graziano Rossi, Loris Reggiani, Sito Pons, Pierfrancesco Chili, and Steve Baker.
The Gallina Team has the enviable accolade of being the first Italian Team to win the World 500 cc G.P. class with Italian Riders since MV and Agostini.
In addition to racing successes, Roberto Gallina was one of the founders of IRTA, the Association that now controls of G.P. World Championship and is responsible for rider and circuit safety. A major contributor to the enjoyment we all get from watching racing on any Sunday. Roberto can justly claim to have helped shape motorcycle racing as we know it today.
Roberto Gallina's contribution to the art of the motorcycle is not limited to racing. He has been responsible for strides in motorcycle manufacturing also.
Gallina has been successful as a motorcycle constructor and developer, founding in Rimini, the Prototype Centre. He there collaborated with important engineers and designers including Massimo Tamburini to craft many of the beautiful Italian bikes designed at the Centre.

Following the sale of the Centre to the Cagiva Group, he recreated the capability in the current La Spezia location. Here Gallina has been responsible for design and construction of two models; 12 TGA4 - 4 Cylinders 750 cc I.E. and 20 TGA5 single cylinder 800 cc, both for the Japanese market.
Roberto Gallina's son, Michele has continued his fathers winning ways on motorcycles with successes in many classes:
- 1997 Italian Champion, Sport Production class
- 1998 3rd in the Italian Championship, Supersport class
- 2003 Ducati CUP Winner
- 2004 Supertwins Italian Champion
In 1993 Roberto Gallina and his Family started a new commercial activity; opening a retail store for selling the most important motorcycle brands and supporting them with a cutting edge technical department complete with all the most modern equipment. Gallina can construct, tune, repair or simply undertake regular maintenance of your bikes all to the highest standards possible!
